Miami- Through a statement released on Wednesday, State Senate candidate Janelle Perez revealed Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s endorsement for her Senatorial Campaign.

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava expressed her support for Perez, stating that “(Perez) is someone who truly loves Miami Dade. She is a product of our community and has brought to life a vision of entrepreneurship to her family-owned healthcare business.”

“It is such an honor to be endorsed by Mayor Levine Cava, a lifelong public servant and Miami Dade County’s first woman mayor," stated Perez.

The Dade County Mayor also expressed her admiration for Perez’s resilience and perseverance, as she underscored that “As a cancer survivor, Janelle is a fierce champion for expanding access to affordable and quality care, and as a mom and wife, she is ready to fight for a brighter future for Miami-Dade and the state of Florida.”

The endorsement follows a bevy of Democrat politicians and supporting organizations, such as U.S. Congresswoman Donna Shalala, Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book, Senator Annette Taddeo, Giffords PAC, Emily’s List, and Equality Florida Action PAC, that have already endorsed Perez’s campaign.

Janelle Perez will face off against Republican Alexis Catalayud in the upcoming Novemeber election. Catalayud, who is also a Miami native and the past Director of Policy and Programs at the Florida Department of Education, seeks to flip District 38th's senate seat, as it has been filled by democrats since 2016.
