Florida Hits New Gas Price Low, Continues to Beat National Average

Share

The DeSantis Administration has gone all in on countering the policies of President Joe Biden (D).  While the Florida governor holds Biden accountable for the rising gas prices around the country, Florida has seen gas prices hit a five month low.

For the eighth consecutive week, gas prices in Florida have fallen.  In this week alone the average price fell a total of 15 cents.  This has allowed the average price of gas per gallon in Florida to hit $3.78, which is the lowest number since March of 2022, making the total decline of cost $1.11 per gallon.

While Floridians would surely rather pay even less at the pump, Florida seems to be one of the best places to gas up your car, as the state beats the national average of $4.06 per gallon.  In fact, the most expensive place to gas up in Florida can be found at West Palm Beach and Boca Raton for $4.00 per gallon, still cheaper than the national average.

While this is seemingly a victory for the DeSantis Administration, there seems to be an all around drop in gas prices around the country, but ever so slowly.  The president has taken to Twitter in the last few weeks to boast about the dropping numbers, "Gas prices are now down by more than 90 cents a gallon. That’s over seven straight weeks of prices declining," said Biden last week on Twitter.

Governor DeSantis (R-FL) however, could easily take the credit for the price drop in Florida.  Apart from the tax relief bill signed this Summer that includes a fuel tax holiday during the entire month of October.  The governor's office suggests this will save Floridians $200 million by lowering the price of gas by 25.3 cents per gallon.

While the entire country is seeing gains at large with the price of gas, the overall status of fuel prices is still complained about by voters. In a Gallup poll of Americans in all 50 states, two-thirds of respondents said gas prices are causing them financial hardship.
