Florida Democrats Turn on pro-Life/pro-Abortion, Anti-LGBTQ Statewide Candidate Naomi Blemur

Share

Just when you thought the intraparty divide within the Florida Democratic Party couldn’t get any worse, the push by Progressives to purge any “moderate” or “centrist” Democrats from their ranks continues, including Naomi Blemur.

Earlier this year, State Senator Jason Pizzo (D), along with a group of state Democratic lawmakers, embarked on a purge of centrist Democrats, and have gone to bat for more Progressive-minded candidates for elected office.

Democratic candidate for Agriculture Commissioner Naomi Esther Blemur, who is running to replace AG Commissioner Nikki Fried,  has become that latest victim of the Florida Democratic Party “cancel culture” after it was discovered that she once believed that,” Abortion is a SIN.”

Abortion is a SIN. Just like any other sin, it will never be consistent with Christianity.Period. Christ came and died, to bore our sins,” stated Blemur.

Ouch.

Blemur’s past anti-Abortion remark is facepalm to the entire Democratic Progressive  movement in Florida, and current pro-Abortion narrative that Progressives like Rep. Anna Eskamani (D) have been  championing.

"FL Democrats do your research, we have three people running for Ag Commissioner including this person who is sadly anti-LGBTQ+ and supports abortion bans. She definitely didn’t tell me that when she asked me to consider endorsing her at Leadership Blue — glad I didn’t!,” tweeted Rep. Eskamani

Blemur countered the criticism she has been receiving ever since her past “Don’t Say Abortion” remark came to light.

“As the only woman in this race, I have ALWAYS been pro-choice. This is yet another baseless attack on our successful campaign, because they have no other leg to stand on. We must ensure abortion stays legal in our state,” tweeted Blemur.

Blemur is the frontrunner in the race and has been able to garner a considerable amount of campaign endorsements, but not those endorsements are in jeopardy of falling through.

Both State Senators Annette Taddeo and Shevron Jones, have retracted the support for Blemur.

“As a strong voice for reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ rights, I foundv @NaomiforFL past comments unsettling as they’ve come to light. These comments run counter to my record of protecting and advancing the rights of Floridians, and I’ve retracted said support from her campaign,” tweeted Sen. Jones.

Progressive websites like Florida Politics and Daily Kos are up in arms over Blemur’s abortion revelation, especially The Daily Kos. It appears as if they spit up their lunch after finding about Blemur’s past position on abortion.

With Absentee Ballots having already been mailed out, has Blemur been able to garner most of those early votes voter her primary challengers, J.R. Gaillot and Ryan Morales?

The winner of this Democratic primary race will face off with Republican AG Commissioner nominee and State Senator, Wilton Simpson.

Early voting starts August 13th, and Election Day is August 23rd.
