Ron DeSantis and Charlie Crist
Florida Democrats have remained persistent in branding Governor DeSantis (R-FL),and his legislation, "far-right." Now, US Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) is calling all of gov. DeSantis's Republican voting base of support, "far-right."
In a recent Tweet, gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist attempted to parallel himself with the current governor by comparing their base of support. "DeSantis is only interested in appealing to his far-right base." said Crist, dding, "My base is all Floridians."
In comparison to Commissioner Nikki Fried (D-FL), Crist is often seen as the more moderate choice for Democrats to nominate this month to face off against Ron DeSantis in November. However, this claim was met with criticism as it has generalized a vast amount of Floridians.
Not only is DeSantis one of the most positively viewed lawmakers in the entire nation, but his poll numbers in Florida show more than just a strong amount of support. According to a recent Florida statewide poll, 54% of Floridians support the current governor and only a 38% disapproval rating.
Vast amounts of Republicans (83%) support the governor and a surprising 21% of Democrats claimed to support DeSantis' job as governor so far.
In other words, DeSantis's favorable appeal transcends across political party lines.
Florida Republicans currently have about at 200,000 voter registration advantage over Democrats in the state.
