As the polls have closed and the election results are coming in, the Democratic Primary for Governor has gone in favor of Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) with a vast majority of the percentage total. Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried (D-FL) was looking to repeat as a statewide elected Democrat, as she was the only one voted in the 2018 election cycle. Crist has now won the Democratic nomination for the governorship for the second time.

According to TransparencyUSA, Crist raised nearly 12 million dollars and spent almost 5 million. Fried raised just below 2.5 million, and spent just over 1 million.

Leading up to Tuesday’s primary, polls have been back and forth between the candidates. A recent University of North Florida poll showed a strong outing for Fried with a 4-point lead over the former governor. However, St. Pete Polls data (including an 11% undecided) came up with a 59.3 to 29.7 victory for Crist.

According to RealClearPolitics, the UNF poll was the only poll since February to have Fried winning in any capacity.
