They Don't all Show up for Work in Washington

SHOCKING— In Washington this week, there has been rare sightings of Democratic Reps. Frederica Wilson and Al Lawson in the Capitol.

Wearing her trademark black Cowboy sombrero (hat), Rep. Wilson appeared to have thrown out her proxy voting card and actually showed up for work. The same with Rep. Lawson, who is said to have been recovering from back surgery and has not been in Washington to vote in over a year.

Interestingly enough, Rep. Charlie Crist, who has also been chided by Republicans for not showing up to vote, was not seen during Wednesday’s votes and may have dialed it in, again.

Rep. Crist makes sporadic trips to Washington, and his office is still all but shut down because of the COVID pandemic. Yup, the office is still closed down. For precautionary purposes, of course.

There was also another rare sighting. No, it wasn’t Bigfoot, but it was someone that shares a similar height advantage over most lawmakers.

Rep. Byron Donalds, who, unlike Reps. Crist, Lawson, and Wilson, is always in attendance. Believe it or not, some fellow Republican legislators refer to Donalds as “Big and Beautiful.”

Yes, that is what Rep. Jodey Arrington called Donalds outside of the House floor this week.

We heard it, so we are putting it out there.

More Sightings…

Our amigo, former Rep. Kendrick Meek (D), was in the Capitol as well as State Rep. Dan Daley, for the unveiling of the new Dr. Mary McCleod Bethune statue in Statuary Hall.

Wait, we can’t forget to mention that “Shev,” aka State Senator Shevrin Jones was also in Washington.

What’s not a rare sighting…

Those annoying metal detectors that Speaker Nancy Pelosi put in place to enter the House floor because several pro-gun members of the Republican Party, are still there.

Blame Reps. Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and a handful of ‘Yosemite Sam’ type legislators.

It’s paranoia on Speaker Pelosi’s part. Even the Capitol Police who have to wand you down as you pass through the metal detectors are fed up with them.

One police officer said that he can't wait for Republicans to win back the House so that the metal detectors get removed.

ICE, ICE, BABY

President Donald Trump is without question the Republican Kingmaker. Just about everyone he endorses wins their respective race.

But while President Trump is framing the U.S. Congress to his liking, everyone is wondering when he's going to pull the trigger and announce he run for reelection.

Trump has put the potential slate of 2024 GOP presidential hopefuls on ice. No one is doing anything until Trump makes his decision to run or not to run. READ MORE

The Campaign Trails…

State Rep. Anthony Sabatini, who is running for Congress, announced on Twitter that he was announcing a “huge endorsement” this week.

State Rep. Elizabeth Fetterhoff, who is in a bitter primary race with Rep.Webster Barnaby for State House Seat 29, has announced that the VBIA, Volusia Building Industry Association's immediate past President Frank Severino, and now current President Amy Haworth, and Builder Director Alison Root, as well as the Volusia Building Industry Association, have proudly endorsed State her.  Dr. Frank Reed of Volusia County has also endorsed Rep. Fetterhoff.

Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book has been endorsed by the Broward County Dolphin Democrats.

‘Big and Beautiful’ and Hungry

It almost made me throw up a little in my mouth to hear Rep. Donald be called “Big and Beautiful’ this week.

Because of all of the ‘Taco Talk’ that has been going on this week, we ask Senor ‘Big and Beautiful’ about First Lady Jill Biden’s equating of Hispanics to “Breakfast Tacos,” and not only did Donald rip the First Lady for making such a dumb statement, that took off running to find himself a bite to eat. READ MORE
