January 6th Commission Lawmakers Receive Capitol Police Security Detail

Share

WASHINGTON – The January 6th Committee members are now being escorted around the U.S. Capitol by armed Capitol Police security detail.

The extra security was very visible as several of the members of the commission, including Reps. Stephanie Murphy, Adam Kinzinger, and Liz Cheney were seen with a police officer in tow arriving and leaving the House Chamber.

After hiring former ABC News President James Goldston to produce the primetime, nationally televised hearings and Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) not allowing true Conservative lawmakers on the committee, Republicans have had their reservations considering the committee as a whole.

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) however, is insisting that Democrats, Speaker Pelosi, and the Committee she crafted are getting special treatment. Greene talked about recent death threats and political favoritism in a recent run-in with the media.

“He could be one of the people threatening to kill me. Who knows what he’s doing? I didn’t even know who it was until the Capitol Police arrested him. So, the Capitol Police did their job. But the Department of Justice won’t do theirs. Why? Because he’s a Democrat," said Rep. Greene outside of the Capitol on Thursday.

According to The Floridian’s Javier Manjarres, at least 5 of the House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack have been seen with a security detail following them around the Capitol complex.

When Rep. Greene was asked about this scenario by Manjarres, she responded, responded, "are you kidding me right now?"

“Great for them. I don’t have one. They didn’t give me one," added Greene.

Another reporter then asked, “But you’ve requested one?”

“Multiple times. Multiple times, yeah, and they don’t give me one." responded Greene.

Moreover, humans aren’t the only ones getting special treatment in the nation’s capital.

The Floridian has also reported that Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA) has been bending or possibly breaking the rules by bringing in her small canine named ‘Zoey onto the House floor during votes.

“She doesn’t go on the floor, she goes into the Cloakroom,” said Rep. Wild. “I just push the envelope although I believe every dog is a therapy dog. She’s not certified.”
