China Targets The Fed, Kat Cammack Responds

Share

The Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party have been caught targeting the Federal Reserve and its employees in order to obtain sensitive information. For a while now, China has been suspected of informational espionage, going as far as to target U.S. universities to Congressmen such as Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA).

According to an article by Politico, “More than a dozen Fed economists were found to have close ties to Chinese government institutions, including the People’s Bank of China, and with known contacts of China’s Thousand Talents Plan, its talent recruitment program. The report detailed several incidents, including attempts by some Fed employees to share sensitive information, and another incident where Chinese officials detained and threatened a senior Fed economist on a trip to Shanghai.”

Congresswoman Kat Cammack (R-FL) went on Fox News Wednesday, calling the report concerning the Fed “incredibly disturbing.”

“We’ve known for so long about China’s attempts to undermine our Constitutional Republic and they have worked diligently at all levels, whether it’s through the Thousand Talents Program, through the Confucius Institutes on our university campuses and were infiltrating our various agencies. They will stop at nothing, and here we are this week looking at a bill to spend billions of dollars that could potentially end up in China.”

Cammack also mentioned a story in which at the University of Florida (within Cammack’s district) a Chinese national was stealing research and intellectual property from the university and that the suspect disappeared to China once there was “a whiff of suspicion.”

The Florida Congresswoman tweeted out her appearance on the network:

“We've known for so long about China's attempts to undermine the United States of America, whether it's through the Thousand Talents program or the Confucius Institutes. Any attempt by China to spy on the U.S. is one attempt to many. This ends in January.”

Recently, North Carolina Senator Tom Tillis and other members of the House of Representatives, penned a letter to the Biden administration questioning their housing of illegal immigrant children at a school that appears to be funded by a Chinese education company with deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party. The Floridian broke the story Senator Tills and others cited in their letter.

This attack on the Fed is a danger to our national security.
