Biden pays Chinese-backed school $50 million to house illegals

The Biden Administration’s deal to house unaccompanied migrant children at a closed Jewish boarding school in North Carolina has cost taxpayers nearly $50 million. The school is heavily indebted to a Chinese corporation.

According to records, the contract was not an open bid but was negotiated directly between The Department of Health and Human Services and The American Hebrew Academy (AHA). The 5-year lease totals $49.8 Million.

As previously reported by The Floridian, the American Hebrew Academy abruptly closed its doors in 2019. Shortly thereafter, it refinanced its property loan through an education company in Communist China, Puxin Limited. That loan totals $26 million and accrues 18% interest per year. 

Puxin reportedly placed three Chinese individuals on the highest three board roles shortly after the school announced the loan refinancing. The school confirmed with The Floridian that Puxin’s loan remains outstanding, and Puxin is a current lender to the school.

While federal records reflect that AHA is a “U.S. Owned Business” and not a foreign entity, some question whether the school’s financial indebtedness to Puxin and their apparent de facto control over its board indicates that the contract is for the benefit of a foreign entity.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) commented on the contract saying:

“Joe Biden’s disastrous open border policies, which encourage unregulated mass migration across our southern border, benefit not only human traffickers but also Chinese companies linked to property leased to the Department of Health and Human Services.

We cannot allow Beijing to profit from the illegal immigration that is destroying American communities and undermining our national security.”

Despite repeated requests, AHA has not yet produced the names of its current board members.

The school's announcement of the contract mentioned HHS also approved a contract for programming. It appears programming, such as academics and other activities, will be led by "Greensboro Global Academy."

There is little publicly available information on Greensboro Global Academy, other than a single-page website requesting resumes for employment opportunities. There is no record of a federal contract for Greensboro Global Academy, nor is the name registered as a business entity in North Carolina.
