The senior citizen organization, 60 Plus, has officially endorsed Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) for reelection. 60 Plus is a nonpartisan, non-profit advocacy group with a “free enterprise, less government, and fewer taxes view towards issues important to seniors” according to their website.
According to a Webster press release, 60 Plus Founder and Chairman, Jim Martin in his own words stated about Webster, “Your work on behalf of America’s seniors exemplifies public service at its best. Our 5 million-plus senior activists across the country appreciate your commitment to senior citizens and the issues important to us.”
“Few fight the fight for seniors as you have.” Said Saul Anuzis, President of 60 Plus. “Seniors matter, seniors vote and you deserve our support.”
This endorsement could really help Webster. He said himself, “My district has the largest share of seniors in the country and as a senior myself, I know firsthand the issues and challenges seniors face,” and went on to mention, “I am honored to receive this endorsement and grateful for their recognition of my proven record of serving my constituents, fighting the Washington Establishment to protect our Constitutional rights, and getting stuff done. I am committed to keep fighting on behalf of Florida’s hardworking taxpayers and families to advance common-sense reforms and principled policy ideas.”
Webster is facing a daunting task, and he can use every endorsement he can get. He is running against Laura Loomer, an investigative journalist and (called by some) a provocateur. She unsuccessfully challenged Lois Frankel in 2020 in district 21 when she lost by 20 points. However, now she has decided to run in district 11 against Webster.
Just last week, Loomer held a campaign fundraiser event in which conservative personalities such as Roger Stone, Gen. Michael Flynn, and Col. Mike McCalister all stumped for Loomer in Wildwood, Florida.
Roger Stone went as far as to call the incumbent, “do nothing Dan Webster” and said that Webster “is a Republican in name only.”
The Republican primary for the district 11 seat will be held August 23rd.
