Florida's CD13 Race Heats up With Mounting Endorsements

Share

With Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) pursuing the Governor’s seat, Florida’s 13th congressional district is up for grabs. Democrats have faced waning support, President Biden’s low approval rating, and expectations from political pundits that the upcoming 2022 midterm election will result in a “red wave” across the country. Despite this, Democrats like Eric Lynn are hopeful that they’ll come out victorious in November, and mounting endorsements continue to fuel the CD13 race as Lynn challenges the winner of the Republican primary race between Amanda Makki and Anna Paulina Luna (R).

Earlier this month, Rep. Crist himself endorsed Lynn, calling him “a leader who will serve the people of the 13th  District well in Congress.”

Lynn, a former Biden staffer, is vying for the seat that Crist is vacating, as Republicans continue to warn voters that Lynn being elected to Congress would spell trouble for the country.”

Charlie Crist has officially picked a Democrat to run against me in the race to hill his open House seat,” stated the  Luna campaign this week, calling Lynn “a former Biden staffer who worked in the national security Deep State, with ties to radical liberals like Rahm Emanuel and Nancy Pelosi.”

Similar to state Senator Annette Taddeo (D) backing out of the gubernatorial race to endorse Crist for Governor, state Rep. Michele Rayner (D), who dropped out of the congressional race in May, is now endorsing Lynn for the congressional seat.

“Eric knows Pinellas and he knows Washington, he knows what the people need and how to get the job done on day one,” Rayner said in a statement, adding that “with our basic human rights under attack, our communities struggling with housing and so much more at stake on the ballot, I am proud to endorse Eric because I know he’ll represent and serve the people of Pinellas well in Congress.”

In response to the endorsement, Lynn Called Rayner “a fearless advocate in Tallahassee.”

“Michele knows like I do that Anna Paulina Luna is too extreme for the people of Pinellas,” he commented, saying that he and Rayner will work together to “make sure this district is represented by someone who shares our Pinellas values.”
