Elon Musk Votes Republican for First Time Ever in TX; Leans Towards DeSantis in 2024

In Texas, Republican Mayra Flores won a special election in district 34 following Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX) announced his retirement. The long-time Democratic seat had only been held by Republicans once since the redistricting cycle ten years ago, according to The Texan.

“BIG BREAKING NEWS. Republican @MayraFlores2022 just beat a Democrat to win an open seat for Congress in an (sic) historically Democrat district in South Texas. Congress just got more Republican. Texas just got more red. The future is looking bright red in Texas, " stated Gov. Abbott.

However, just as shocking as the Mayra Flores victory is, from whom one of the votes she received might be even more shocking.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man who has been a fierce defender of users of Twitter to speak freely, said that he voted for Flores, and for the first time, he voted Republican.

“I voted for Mayra Flores – first time I ever voted Republican. Massive red wave in 2022.”

The newly elected Congresswoman Flores responded to Musk stating,

“Welcome to the Republican Party! We welcome all walk aways from all walks of life. The party of opportunity, prosperity, and freedom is here to stay. We look forward to working together and building a better future for all of America #SaveAmerica #TX34

When asked about voting Republican in 2024, he said that it was “tbd” but when asked who he’s leaning towards, he said “DeSantis”

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) capitalized on the support from Elon Musk, a South African, when asked about Musk’s apparent possible support in a press conference Wednesday.

“I’m focused on 2022, but with Elon Musk, what I would say is you know I welcome support from African-Americans. What can I say?”

In recent straw polls, DeSantis has come out on top or been a close second to former President Donald Trump (R).
