As advertised on the header of his Twitter account, Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) became the first Green Beret elected to Congress when he won the Florida's District 6 seat in 2018. Since 2019, he’s been one of the more prominent Floridian Republican voices in the House, such as making appearances on Fox News regularly, such as on Monday.

“BE WORTHY. My message to all Americans on this #MemorialDay is to be worthy of the brave men & women who didn’t make it home & those abroad right now fighting to keep America free. Today and every day, I’m grateful for their sacrifices," said Waltz.

Additionally, the Green Beret included tributes to his fallen brothers in his unit on this Memorial Day, remembering those who gave their lives for the lives of countless Americans. The tweet below is one of many tributes provided by Rep. Waltz.

“On this #MemorialDay, we remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Today, I remember my fellow Green Berets from my unit that didn’t make it home," added Waltz.

However, despite the Memorial Day tributes and statements from Waltz, he was also critical of President Joe Biden’s (D) decision to not send the Ukrainians weaponry that could aid them in their defense against the ongoing Russian invasion.

“These rocket systems can destroy the Russian artillery that is leveling Ukrainian cities. Add this to a string of BAD decisions from Biden on #Ukraine”

According to the Fox News article which cites The Washington Post in saying that the White House was considering sending MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) to Ukraine that would expand Ukraine’s capabilities to fire missiles. The White House, fearing escalation, decided not to. According to the article, “Russia’s ambassador to the U.S. had said that any move by America to send long-range rocket systems to Ukraine would be ‘unacceptable’ and demanded that ‘Washington does not take such a provocative step.’”

Some say the best offense is defense itself, but not being able to play offense at all could be troublesome for the Ukrainians. However, the White House has been shown to avoid de-escalation at all costs.
