State Rep. Eskamani Falls Flat on Buffalo Mass Shooting

Since the recent shooting committed by a white supremacist in Buffalo, New York in which the terrorist targeted an African American community, politicians flocked to the twitterverse to give their two cents. The Left or many in the anti-gun lobby (most of the time) blames lack of gun control for these instances.

The Right, or the pro-gun lobby blames the breakdown of society’s standards (breakdown of the nuclear family, declining rate of Judeo-Christian values, etc.). Sometimes, the two ideologies meet in the middle with “thoughts and prayers.”

However, State Rep. Anna Eskamani (D-FL) had an interesting choice of words when it came to the recent shooting. All Floridians remember the gut-wrenching day in which we witnessed the horrifying scenes of the Pulse Nightclub massacre. This is what the state rep had to say.

“With Pulse Nightclub in our district, it’s disgusting to see the inaction by politicians across the state & country who do *nothing* to end gun violence. Many will instead push a racist & xenophobic agenda that perpetuates white supremacy for their own political gain.”

Eskamani is equating her colleagues and politicians around the United States to the monster who committed the shooting in Buffalo by calling them “racist” and saying they will perpetuate “white supremacy for their own political gain.”

Eskamani is quick to call anyone racist or xenophobic, but she is slow to the draw on the Pulse Nightclub shooter, who was a homophobic, Islamic terrorist that sought out to kill gay people.

The Floridian condemns any type of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the victim's families of the Buffalo shooting.
