Scott Chides 'Heartless' Democrats on Senate Floor

Share

Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) took to the Senate floor this week to share his frustration against “heartless” Democrats. In an effort to combat rising inflation, the former Governor of Florida introduced a “bill establishing a budgetary point of order that stops reckless, inflation-fueling spending.” However, Senator Scott did not receive support from members across the aisle.

According to a press release from the Florida lawmaker, Senator Scott’s legislation “would not apply to funding for the Armed Forces, Social Security or Medicare,” and the lawmaker informed that it “would halt any non-defense discretionary spending that increases the deficit over the ten-year budget window when the average annual CPI inflation is 3% or higher.” In response to the call, “Senate Democrats rejected his initial proposal, as well as his subsequent counter proposals” that would instead pin the point of order at 8% and 12% inflation.

In his plea, Scott argued that “Senate Democrats are heartless and proved again today that they don’t care about reversing Joe Biden’s record-breaking inflation crisis.”

He explained that his time in the Senate has allowed him to become familiar with seeing Democrats reject commonsense policy,” and their decision “to greenlight reckless deficit spending, even when inflation rises above 12%, is absolutely insane.”

Attributing the “raging inflation crisis” the President Biden, Scott expressed that “the only response to skyrocketing prices we’ve seen from him is blaming others.”

In turn, Scott posits that the president’s “blame-game has been enabled by weak Democrats in Congress who would rather provide political cover for a confused and failed president than actually help struggling families.” Instead, Scott vowed to combat the growing concern because Floridians are sick and tired of it.”

The press release also informs that “the Federal Reserve targets a 2% inflation rate, far lower than any of the levels rejected today by Senate Democrats.”
