Grover Norquist Endorses Wilton Simpson

Florida Senate President Wilton Simpson (R) has gained another endorsement as he seeks to become Florida’s next Agriculture Commissioner. Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reforms, released a statement endorsing Simpon. In his statement, Norquist praised Simpson, calling him “the right candidate to return the office of Agriculture Commissioner to Republicans.”

In Norquist’s endorsement, he called Simpson “a leader” who “has staunchly defended taxpayers, and the state’s leading business climate.” “With his guidance, Florida has become a more attractive place to live, raise a family, work, and run a business," Norquist added.

Naming Simpson “as the best choice for Commissioner of Agriculture,” Norquist argued that electing Simpson to the post would only ensure “more good, conservative leadership in the future.”

“Simpson will protect their Second Amendment rights, and he has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge publicly committing to keep fighting for taxpayers,” Norquist added.

“From the national to local level, the Democrat agenda means higher taxes, more inflation, and fewer rights for all Americans,” warned Norquist, saying that “Wilton Simpson is the right candidate to return the office of Agriculture Commissioner to Republicans, and stop the left’s radical agenda.”

The endorsement comes at a time when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who endorsed Simpson’s campaign, announced that Florida has set another record regarding tourism.

“From January to March of this year, an estimated 36 million people vacationed in the Sunshine State, which is almost a 40% increase over the first quarter of 2021,” Team DeSantis announced in a message to supporters.

Simpson has also received a number of endorsements from the likes of President Donald Trump (R), Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody (R), the NRA, and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

One-time challenger and veteran Chuck Nadd (R), who dropped out of the race in late April, accused Simpson of not siding with “conservative values.”
