EXCLUSIVE: Rick Scott Calls Democratic Support for Infanticide 'Radical'

Share

In part of an exclusive interview with The Floridian, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) went on the record to discuss abortion and the Democrats’ “radical” views on the issue. The former two-term governor for the state of Florida, Scott was asked if he would support a statewide ban on abortion should the Supreme Court opinion of the leaked draft of overturning the Roe V. Wade stand.

“Well, I’m pro-life. I’m unabashedly pro-life. But I think we ought to wait and see exactly what the Supreme Court comes down with," said Sen. Scott. "Democrats are radical. Today we’re voting on a bill that would say that in this country, you can get an abortion up until the moment of birth."

Scott pressed on the Democratic position of supporting late-term abortions and "infanticide," the gruesome practice of killing a newborn baby after a botched abortion.

"That’s not where the country is. This is a baby, right? This is a little baby we all should cherish. We had a vote; I think it was last year when the Democrats voted to say you didn’t have to keep a baby alive. A baby born alive – you didn’t have to keep alive. I mean that’s radical, and that’s where the Democrats are. That’s not where the country is and that’s not where the European countries are," concluded Scott.

With the topic of abortion heating up right before the midterms, it will be interesting to see how the country reacts to the final Roe V. Wade decision, if the Supreme Court takes up the measure.
