Crist Wants to Make ‘Florida Affordable Again’

Over the weekend, Democratic gubernatorial candidate, and Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) not only continued to amass endorsements, but he also railed against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

A former Republican Governor, Crist could likely emerge the victor from the gubernatorial primary that also includes Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) and state Senator Annette Taddeo (D), and Crist is vowing to “be a governor that’s focused on making Florida affordable again.”

The Florida Democrat has released an advertisement criticizing Governor DeSantis and a “DeSantax,” calling him an “authoritarian bully” that needs to be voted out of office come November.

Over the weekend, during an interview with MSNBC, Crist commented on what his campaign is focusing on in order to assuage voters into supporting his candidacy.

Arguing that he wants to see an “affordable Florida,” Crist explained that “what the governor is neglecting is we have skyrocketing property insurance” and “the cost of housing in our state has gone through the roof.”

Crist further expressed that “working class people are getting squeezed here… and it’s not right.”

He accused DeSantis of not having “their back,” and he affirmed that his years as a lawmaker have confirmed that he has “always had their back.”

“As their attorney general, as their governor, as their commissioner of education, and if they give me the opportunity to be their governor again, I’ll have their back every single day,” Crist said.

“I can promise you this Florida,” Crist shared on Twitter, “I’ll be a governor that’s focused on making Florida affordable again.”

Crist has received significant support from unions and lawmakers alike, which culminated in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) releasing a video, announcing her endorsement.

Crist has also criticized the Republican party as a whole, accusing them of embracing “authoritarianism” and questioning “whatever happened to less taxes, less government, more freedom from the Republican Party?”
