After the Florida Senate voted to end Disney’s status as a special tax district, State Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-FL) gave a message of optimism for Republicans and declared that the bill will also be passed in the Florida House. In a tweet, Sabatini is signaling change within the approaches conservatives are taking to legislation.
“Today the Florida Senate voted to REPEAL Disney’s special tax district Tomorrow I’ll vote YES to pass the Bill in the FL House Then @GovRonDeSantis will sign the Bill into law I think Woke @Disney chose the WRONG Governor to pick a fight with! Welcome to the NEW @GOP”
This declaration is meaningful for Republicans. One of the biggest complaints from common conservatives is that they always feel like they are on the defensive.
With this legislation, it feels as though members of the GOP are taking the offensive when something they want to correct comes to their attention. Ever since Disney has shown disapproval for the Parental Rights in Education Bill (infamously known as the don’t say gay bill), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has had the corporation and their special tax status in his sights.
Sabatini is exclaiming a change of pace for the GOP: If you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
