Rubio: Demings 'Enabling... Border Crisis'

Share

Over the weekend, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) held a grassroots event with Tallahassee Young Republicans. In the event, he dubbed the ongoing conflict between Republicans and Democrats “insanity vs. common sense on issue after issue.” During an interview with Hannity, the Florida Republican further criticized the Biden administration, expressing that both Biden and Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) are “enabling of the border crisis.”

Both Rubio and Demings are headed for a general election in November wherein the winner will be a senator for Florida. As is common, Rubio has likened Demings to Biden, accusing her of contributing to growing inflation and to the illegal border crisis.

In the interview with Hannity, while Rubio did comment on Biden, he directed blame to Demings for supporting the presidents’ policies.

“In Florida, there is this Pelosi Puppet, this congresswoman Val Demings, that Chuck Schumer handpicked to run against me,” said Rubio, and adding that Demings “is in favor of completely open borders, of allowing immigrants to vote, of not deporting people even if they are gang members.”

Rubio then called Demings someone who’s “raised thiry-something million dollars for her campaign as a result of these stances.”

Demings, at once point considered a vice presidential pick for President Biden, has since distanced herself from the president, and she has not confirmed whether or not her campaign with bolster voting support alongside the president.

“These are radical ideas, and what you’re seeing, the images you’re seeing are just the tip of the iceberg of the kind of agenda these people want to follow,” argued Rubio, commenting that “no country in the world would allow the lawlessness that we have with our immigration system – none.”

Earlier this month, the senatorial hopeful did announce that her senate campaign had raised $10 million in 2022's first quarter, which is the most money any senate challenger has ever raised.
