DeSantis to New Immigrants: "Do not come to Florida"

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) declared that the state of Florida will enforce the law of the land when it comes to immigration on Wednesday. These comments come after immigrants were bussed from Texas to Washington D.C. by Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-FL). Some of those immigrants have expressed desires to journey to Miami.

According to DeSantis’s office, “To those who have entered the country illegally, fair warning: do not come to Florida. Life will not be easy for you, because we are obligated to uphold the immigration laws of this country, even if our federal government and other states won’t,” the office told Fox News. “Florida is not a sanctuary state, and our social programs are designed to serve the citizens of our state.”

Abbott has sent these busses to D.C. in retaliation to the Biden administration ending Title 42, which allowed the President to bar illegal immigrants from coming into the country due to the pandemic.

The Biden administration has called Gov. Abbott’s actions a “publicity stunt” while Abbott has promised the return of more busses.

On April 12^th, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said in a tweet,

“Our southern border has never been more unsafe or insecure than it is right now And thanks to Biden’s policies it is about to get even worse”
