Much like former President Donald Trump did in 2016, Republican Congressional candidate Laura Loomer continues to buck the GOP establishment with her run for Congress against Rep. Daniel Webster (R).
The latest Q1 Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show that Loomer has raised three times more campaign dollars than Rep. Webster.
According to the report, Loomer raised $169,750.19, while Webster only raised $52,742.84.
The large fundraising gap could be a sign of a surge of support for Loomer in Florida’s very conservative 11th Congressional District.
Florida’s CD 11 is expected to become significantly more Republican than it already is once the final map is signed off on.
To date, Loomer has outpaced Webster in overall fundraising, posting total receipts of $496,815.06.
Webster lags behind Loomer with $413,122.23 but has more cash on hand than the conservative journalist.
There are several other Republicans running in this primary race, but for all intents and purposes, this race is boiling down to be between Loomer and Webster.
This race, like is the case with most hotly-contested congressional races, will most likely be decided on the ground.
Voter contact is key, and it appears as if Loomer has the early advantage over Webster.
Loomer has been on the ground while Webster’s campaign has almost been invisible in the district.
The Florida Legislature is going to address the redistricting process this week, and congressional candidates, including Loomer, and members of Congress, including Webster, will finally know how the district map will finally look.
