Conservative Florida State Rep. Randy Fine (R) has taken issue with Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D) for his grandstanding on the controversial Reedy Creek issue, his bashing of Gov. DeSantis, and above all, personalizing issues that “don’t have anything to do with him.”
Rep. Guillermo Smith, who is arguably the most outspoken LGBTQ activist in the Florida Legislature and who recently removed the Latin Xfrom this Twitter handle, is accused by Rep. Fine of being “ineffective” and for appearing to exploit the gay community.
“He’s not LGBTQ, he’s “G.” I don’t understand lumping everyone into one bucket. Look, I understand. I am sure being a gay guy isn’t the easiest thing in the world,” said Rep. Fine in an interview with The Floridian. “So, I’m not one and I don’t have any issue with what people want to do on their own. He has personalized issues that really don’t have anything to do with him. He’s completely ineffective. Maybe it’s good for Twitter followers?”
Reps. Fine and Smith butted heads during a recent committee meeting regarding Disney.
"Randy Fine was happy to give @Disney special perks and tax breaks until they stood up for LGBTQ Floridians and hurt his fragile feelings," stated Rep. Smith.
Rep. Smith, who pushed the false "Don't say gay" narrative, is rumored to be looking at running for Congress in the newly-drawn 10th Congressional District in Central Florida.
