Demings Raises More Cash Than Any Previous FL Senate Challenger

Share

US Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) has announced that her US Senate campaign raised over $10 million in Q1 of the 2022 fiscal year.  This funding is unprecedented as she raised more money than any Florida Senate challenger ever.

Exactly $13.1 million was reported by the Demings' campaign in terms of how much cash they have on hand.  This is the most ever reported by a US Senate seat challenger in Florida.

According to the Demings team, the donations are primarily fueled by, "grassroots," donors who on average have given the Central Florida Representative $23.50 online in Q1 of 2022 alone.

In total, the Demings campaign has seen upwards of $30 million in donations since she announced her candidacy in June of 2021.

"Chief Demings is inspiring a historic people-powered movement never seen before in Florida," said Demings Campaign Manager Zack Carroll. "We’re building the most robust campaign Rubio has ever faced, one that will let Floridians know that they have a choice between a 27-year law enforcement officer and a career politician who doesn’t show up for work."

The polls forecast a tight race for Senator Rubio's (R-FL) seat with the vast majority of voter surveys putting the two candidates within 10 percentage points of each other.

While Demings has put Rubio on blast for his attendance in the US Senate, the Rubio team has revved up campaign attacks against Demings, going after her stances on Title 42, her, "radical record," and her support for, "court packing."
