Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) was recently interviewed by Bay News 9 on a number of subjects. One topic she discussed is the Green New Deal, which has been controversial among both Republicans and Democrats. Taking issue with her stance on the environmental effort, the Rubio Team has released a response, accusing the Florida Democrat of wanting “to hide her radical record from Florida voters.”
In a message sent to supporters the team commented that “Val Demings says she wants to run her campaign in a way that is ‘based on facts,’ accusing Demings of omitting some facts “conveniently… when she outrageously lied about her support for the Green New Deal.”
The “facts” the Rubio team highlights in the message include that Demings was a cosponsor of “the Green New Deal as part of the Congressional Progressive Caucus’ $9.5 Trillion Thrive Agenda, which she described as being a plan to ‘transform our country.’”
They mention that Demings supported the President’s Build Back Better “socialist agenda,” and they also noted that Demings has received an endorsement from “the pro-Green New Deal league of Conservation Voters PAC.”
In a statement, Elizabeth Gregory, the communications director for Marco Rubio, further commented on the debacle, saying that the former Orlando police chief “is so eager to hide her radical record from Florida voters that she’s resorted to lying.”
Gregory added that “this deceitful backtracking won’t fool Floridians who see Demings for who she truly is: a Pelosi Puppet who wants to impose socialist policies like the Green New Deal on the American people.”
Demings took to social media this week to announce that her campaign would be traveling across the entire state to rally support in her Senatorial bid.
In a video filmed in Key West, the Florida Democrat said, “I’m traveling to every corner of Florida to know who I’m fighting for.”
