Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) has responded to a report from The Floridian, discussing his thoughts on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) of corporations receiving tax rebates. The former Governor of Florida argued that DeSantis’ “tough-on-big-business rhetoric… couldn’t be further from the truth.” Instead, Crist argues that DeSantis should be voted out of office because “Florida deserves better.”

DeSantis has made headlines in recent weeks, angering Democrats for a wide range of topics. Earlier this week, it was announced that the Governor would be drafting a redistricting map, the Governor signed the controversial Don’t Say Gay bill, and the week has culminated in DeSantis signing a ban on 15-week abortions.

Although polls indicate that Republican support is growing ahead of the midterm elections, Democrats are making their case as to why their platform should expand in November 2022.

Taking to social media to further criticize the Florida Governor, Crist argued that “under Gov. Ron DeSantis, the state’s biggest corporations are, for a second time, getting hundreds of millions in tax giveaways.”

Instead of money being directed to corporations, Crist argues that “that’s money that could go to affordable housing, as rents soar and regular folks get crushed.”

This is why Crist comments that “Florida deserves better” than Governor DeSantis.

Democrats have highlighted a “housing crisis,” which Crist commented on earlier this week.

Denouncing the tax rebates corporations are set to receive, Crist added that “the people of Florida get no assistance to help find cheap rent.”

Instead, Crist posited that the Governor “couldn’t care less” about affordable housing for Floridians.

As an alternative to the Governor, Crist vows that he wants “to build a brighter future for EVERY Floridian, and that starts with undoing Gov. Ron DiSaster’s policies,” adding that “that vision will only be possible if we can bring everyone to the table.”
