WASHINGTON D.C.- Senator Rick Scott (FL-R) pressed The White House to take immediate action after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Congress to request more help from President Joe Biden (D) and the U.S. government.

Ukraine has defended itself against the ongoing Russian invasion for almost 3 weeks. President Zelenskyy, sporting a green t-shirt with a Ukrainian flag behind his chair, reminded legislators of the horrors of Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and the vulnerability felt due to the inability to control the skies.

“Your country could not stop it. Our country experiences the same, every day, right now,” Zelenskyy stated.

Scott, in a press release following the address, urged President Biden to “make a decision TODAY”.

“Either give Ukraine access to the planes to defend itself, or enforce a no-fly zone to close Ukrainian skies to Russian attacks. If President Biden does not do this NOW, President Biden will show himself to be absolutely heartless and ignorant of the deaths of innocent Ukrainian children and families," stated Sen. Scott.

Moreover, Scott would go on to add that Biden has been asleep at the wheel since the war started.

“Since the start of the war, President Biden has been slow to act and Congress has led the way in supporting Ukraine in its fight for democracy. I agree with President Zelenskyy that Biden should step up and lead, but it’s clear that Biden’s weakness will not change, "added Scott. “The United States has the power to give Ukraine what it needs to win and ensure Putin and his thugs personally feel the pain of this ruthless and unlawful invasion. We must use it.”

Similarly, Rep. Michael Waltz (R) noted that the U.S. could be doing more.

"We have so many creative options to support Ukraine, weaken Russia, keep American boots out of WWIII AND keep Putin from using chemical weapons. But first, Biden needs to stop telling Putin what we won't do and start telling him what we will do if he dares to use WMDs," tweeted Rep. Waltz.
