Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) tweeted today that NATO’s involvement in the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine is drawing nearer and nearer. This claim is based on the fact that NATO forces will respond to a “miscalculated” attack on supply convoys in Poland by Vladimir Putin’s army, which would draw the world into a global conflict.
“At some point soon #Putin will have to begin to target the supply convoys coming into #Ukraine and the risk that this would lead to an attack against NATO forces inside of #Poland due to mistakes & miscalculation are significant," tweeted Rubio.
President Joe Biden (D) has made it clear that the U.S. will not engage with Russia unless a NATO country is attacked (Ukraine is not in NATO). If this happens, Sen. Rubio is predicting the conflict will occur based on the idea that mistakes will be made, and the agreements made by the NATO countries to protect each other would trigger a worldwide conflict.
Another Florida legislator, Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), has called for a no-fly zone in Russia but was adamant that American planes be flown by Ukrainian soldiers flying those planes, not American pilots.
Rep. Mast is one of many Republicans to declare that Biden’s administration isn’t doing enough.
The idea of another world war is frightening.
