Cammack: 'We Can't Rely on Venezuela' for oil

Share

Republican members of Congress are voicing their disapproval of the Biden Administration’s handling of rising gas prices. While the administration has stressed that there are unused permits to drill for oil, lawmakers like Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) have directed blame to the administration. In a recent interview with FOX Business, Florida Rep. Kat Cammack (R) echoed in his remarks, saying that "we can't rely on Iran, we can't rely on Venezuela" for oil.

Arguing that Democrats are "out of touch with what the American people are going through," the Florida Republican shared her disapproval of the administration's effort to secure oil from alternative sources like Venezuela and Iran. The decision comes after the administration expressed that it wanted to move away from Russia as a source after Russia launched an invasion against Ukraine.

In the interview, Cammack expressed that the recently passed bipartisan Russian oil ban was "a good first step" in the right direction. However, she added that "it doesn't nearly go far enough."

She expressed that "there was no funding for authorizing the restart of the Keystone Pipeline, and this administration has not approved a single permit since they took office."

Like many GOP members have voiced, Cammack argued in favor of energy independence, saying that "we need to get serious about domestic energy production."

Cammack took to social media to share the interview segment, adding that "the Dems are so out of touch with the American people that they were more concerned about getting to their retreat in Philadelphia with DJ Jazzy than actually  doing the work they were hired to do."

Calling it "disgusting," the Biden Administrations' pursuit of an alternative oil source in Venezuela has gained a bipartisan response with Florida State Senator Annette Taddeo (D) commenting that "the freedom of a people cannot be negotiated behind their backs or sold for a barrel of oil."
