In a move that could be seen as an act of desperation, the Biden administration is moving towards removing Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from the State Sponsor of Terrorism list in hopes that it could de-escalate the Islamic State’s aggression in the Middle East.

According to Axios, “three Israeli officials and two U.S. sources” confirmed that the administration is actively pursuing a deal with the Iranians.

Former President Donald Trump scrapped the Obama-era 2015 Iran nuclear deal that Israel and many Republican politicians denounced, but now President Biden has been pressing forward to reinstituted the plan.

Iran has been demanding that Biden remove the IRGC from the U.S. list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, a list that includes terror groups such as Hamas, Hizbollah, and the Palestine Islamic Jihad.

U.S. Army Green Beret and U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz (R)  called the negotiations a “huge mistake.”

“Removing the IRGC from our terror blacklist in exchange for Iran’s de-escalation in the region would be a HUGE mistake. The IRGC is a threat to us, our allies, and the world. This move would make them even more dangerous than they already are,” stated Rep. Waltz.

IRGC was headed up by Qasem Soleimani before he was targeted and killed by former President Trump.

Soleimani, through his IRGC and the Quds Force, has been accused of conducting major military operations targeting U.S. military personnel, allies, and civilians.
