Gov. Ron DeSantis's office has taken a side in the Key Lime Pie vs. Strawberry Shortcake food fight in the Florida Legislature.
Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez has taken sides with the citrus treat, posting a video supporting a local Florida Keys business, Blond Giraffe, and its key lime delicacies.
"Key Lime pie on a stick, chocolate covered. You can’t get chocolate-covered shortcake," said Lt. G0v. Nunez.

Sen. Burgess has been pushing his "Berry good SB 1006 " measure in the Florida Senate, and it appears as if his efforts are paying off, and looks as if it will make it to a floor vote. The House has one more committee meeting to get past before it goes down to a floor vote in that chamber.
If both chambers vote to make Strawberry Shortcake the official dessert of Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis would be in a position to veto the measure, and with Lt. Gov. Nunez already taking sides, it appears as if Key Lime pie will survive the Florida legislature.
