As the world braces for WWW III, Ukraine pushes back against Russian troops by arming its citizens. Moreover, the Ukrainian Twitter account is calling for Twitter to remove Russia’s official account, arguing that the social media platform is “no place for an aggressor like Russia.” President Joe Biden (D), who has faced scrutiny over his foreign policy with Russia, also shared an update on how the United States is responding to the attack.
“This morning, I met with my G7 counterparts to discuss President Putin’s unjustified attack on Ukraine and we agreed to move forward on devastating packages of sanctions and other economic measures to hold Russia to account,” said the President, sharing the comments after a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine.
On social media, the official account of Ukraine has also taken political swipes at Russia and President Vladimir Putin, asking Twitter to remove Russia’s official account because “they should not be allowed to use these platforms to promote their image while brutally killing the Ukrainian people.”
Harrowing images have been shared of Russia’s attack, including videos of sirens blaring to notify people of the incoming assault, and Ukraine has also responded by sharing an image on social media likening Putin to Hitler.

As the attack erupted, the U.N. security council held an emergency meeting, which saw tension rise between Sergiy Kyslytska, the Ukrainian ambassador and the Russian counterpart.
In the meeting, Kyslytska said that “there is no purgatory for war criminals” because “they go straight to hell.”
Jen Psaki, the White House Press Secretary provided further comments regarding President Biden’s meeting with G7 leaders.
In a statement, Psaki expressed that the President along with the leaders had “reaffirmed their resolve to respond swiftly to President Putin’s unprovoked and unjustified attack on Ukraine,” adding that they all “expressed their solidarity with the people of Ukraine.”
In response to the attack, “the leaders… agreed to intensify ongoing efforts to mitigate any spillover effects from Russia’s actions and to secure stability in global energy markets.”
