GOP Lawmaker Calls Out Biden's Silence on Crime Wave

Share

Among the many crises facing the nation, citizens living in some of  America's larger cities have feared the dramatic spike in crime that has broken concerning records.  US Rep. Scott Franklin (R-FL) is blaming Democrats for the spike in homicides in 2021 and has called out Biden's silence on the Crime Wave.

As recorded at the end of the year, 12 cities set homicide records last year alone.  In a recent tweet, Congressman Franklin not only posted a link to the Wall Street Journal op-ed that comments on anti-police rhetoric and demographic trends, but also claimed that, "12 cities set homicide records in 2021, yet you won’t see [President Biden] and [VP Harris] talking about it."

Franklin further commented that it is, "no coincidence," that the 12 aforementioned cities are, "run by Democrats."

In the upcoming midterm elections, Republicans could utilize the uptick of crime and the backtracking of Liberal policing policies that have been implemented in metropolitan areas.  Last year, the Mayor of San Francisco increased funding for police and demanded that prosecutors hold the arrested accountable.

"We need to change course on how we handle public safety in San Francisco," she wrote. "I’m proud that this city believes in giving people second chances. Nevertheless, we also need there to be accountability when someone does break the law."

This was a move many would have never anticipated, given the large budget cuts local police took after the Summer of 2020 and the rioting that followed.  Last year, Biden referred to the COVID-19 virus as the, "root cause," of the crime wave facing the United States.
