DeSantis Slams Biden for ‘Baselessly Attacking’ Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is once again chastising the Biden Administration, arguing that it “is once again baselessly attacking the Sunshine State.”

President Joe Biden (D) and Gov. DeSantis have often been embroiled in verbal sparring matches over their disagreement on COVID-19 policies. At a time when the President’s approval rating has taken a hit and the Governor has received mounting criticism over his handling of the pandemic, the Governor is taking issue over comments the Biden Administration has made regarding the Governor’s COVID response.

DeSantis directed the response to Press Secretary Jen Psaki, saying that she “attacked Florida for ‘not doing enough’ to reopen schools.” This has been a nationwide point of contention as the Governor has pushed for no mask mandates in school while teachers across the country have voiced the need for online education because of a lack of safety precautions in the school system.

“Newsflash to the Biden-Harris-Fauci administration: Florida schools have been open for in-person schooling since August of 2020 for every Florida student,” the Governor’s team expressed.

Recently, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) has been at odds with teacher’s unions over their expressed refusal to attend in-person classes. In contrast, DeSantis’ team vows that he “is not  going to allow Florida’s children to fall behind or receive anything less than the education they  deserve,” calling for supporters to not “fall for these partisan lies from Washington, D.C.”

The Team explained that “Florida’s schools are open, and they will continue to be open despite the pressure from Dr. Fauci, the lockdown Democrats, and the hysterical corporate media.”

As well, they argued that the “next time Biden wants to attack Governor DeSantis for ‘not doing enough’ to reopen schools, we hope he will look in the mirror.”

Governor DeSantis has been the subject of speculation regarding the 2024 presidential election. Though he has not confirmed if he will announce a presidential run, political pundits are theorizing that he may be positioning himself as a candidate for the Republican nomination.
