Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis is taking issue with the Democratic Party, issuing a statement regarding “disgraceful attacks” against her husband, Gov. Ron DeSantis. As Florida Governor DeSantis (R) faces three gubernatorial challengers, the Democratic Party is hoping to turn Florida blue.

However, Republicans and political pundits alike are warning of a “red wave” that could sweep across the country in the upcoming 2022 midterm election, and Casey DeSantis is responding to recent comments from challenger Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) who likened Governor DeSantis to Hitler.

Calling DeSantis “a fearless leader of Florida,” Casey slammed recent statements likening Governor DeSantis to Hitler.

“This comparison is repulsive, offensive, and minimizes Hitler’s evil crimes against humanity,” Casey said, adding that “this claim shows… the true feelings of our opponents and the uphill battle we are facing in 2022.”

She then expressed that the strategy is “while the opposition continues slinging arrows, our governor keeps forging the path ahead for Florida’s bright future.”

In terms of what she says Governor DeSantis will do for the state, Casey explained that DeSantis “will continue fighting to make sure our children receive a high-quality, in-person education and to keep our communities safe. He will make sure our businesses stay open, our workers have the right to earn a livelihood free from government mandates, and our economy continues roaring.”

She called the recent comments against DeSantis “smears” that “reek of desperations, but luckily, there is no stopping our governor – America’s Governor – from doing the work because it’s the right thing to do.”

Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D), who formerly served as Governor as a Republican, and state Senator Annette Taddeo (D) are also vying to unseat Governor DeSantis.

Over the weekend, Fried reasserted her claim that DeSantis is like Hitler, arguing that “Ron DeSantis and his anti-democratic demagoguery is a danger to our state, our country, and yes, the world.”
