Florida’s First Lady, Casey DeSantis, released a message to supporters, praising Florida and affirming that “freedom is prevailing in Florida.” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has been fighting several controversies while also facing three gubernatorial challengers. However, Casey DeSantis assured that the state is moving forward, arguing that “Florida is the freest state in the United States.”

As many GOP officials have often criticized, First Lady DeSantis noted that “across the country, that freedom has come under assault as politicians have cast aside their citizens’ liberty.” In response to this, GOP lawmakers and political pundits are expecting a “red wave” to take effect in the upcoming 2022 midterm election. A possible indicator of this could be the recent election in South Carolina, which resulted in the GOP flipping a South Carolina city where President Joe Biden (D) won by 30 points.

“Over the last three years, Governor DeSantis led Florida to record-breaking economic success, which has become the envy of America,” said Casey DeSantis, adding that “our tax burden is the lowest per capita in the nation, our job growth far outpaces the national average, we are leading the nation in business formations, and our tourism industry is soaring even beyond its pre-pandemic levels.”

Though she did express that “federal policies are creating headwinds,” “Governor DeSantis has proposed a $1 billion gas tax holiday to help Floridians combat rising inflation and gas prices.”

She commented that the Sunshine State “is in a better place today because of our governor, but his work isn’t finished.”

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D), Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) and state Senator Annette Taddeo (D) are all challenging DeSantis, hoping to unseat the Governor in the November election.
