Nikki Fried is Running a Losing Campaign for Florida's Latino Vote

One of Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried’s gubernatorial campaign’s Hispanic advisors, Evelyn Perez-Verdia, is paid to communicate the commissioner's vision to the Latino vote, including those Republicans and Independents who may not see eye-to-eye with her or her boss.

Perez-Verida, a Colombian-American spokeswoman who calls herself a “centrist,” does what most paid communications staffers do when they encounter counter political viewpoints or bump up against those that do not accept here viewpoints. She blocks them.

I have interacted with communications directors and so-called “strategists” for many, many moons in my long career in politics, and when spokespeople begin to shut down opposing viewpoints like Perez-Verdia is doing, “My friends, the end is near…” as Elvis Presley would say.

Does Perez-Verdia lack messaging skills to defend a position or does she just have very thin skin and just breaks down whenever she is countered?

Enter Christina Pushaw.

Gov. Ron DeSantis’s feisty press secretary Christina Pushaw has been blocked by Perez-Verdia after she told her it was a bad thing to call the FBI on El American reporters on an earlier tweet.

That’s it. That’s all she wrote.

Perez-Verdia blocked Pushaw like she blocked me and others since joining the Nikki Fried campaign.

Evelyn blocked me after I sent a written request for comment to the campaign on whether or not she supported President Biden’s new position on Colombia’s FARC, a narco-terrorist group that “Evie” believes should have the terrorist labeled lifted from them.

Here is the email:

“Hey Andrew, can you tell me if Commissioner Fried supports the Biden move to delist FARC as a terror group? If so, why? If not, why?

For the record

Thanks”

Evie has drank the Democratic Socialist Kool-Aid, and her works have netted nothing but campaign failures, even as she warned Florida Democrats to stop using the term “progresista” because those coming from Latin America, like herself, know that it is associated with socialism.

It’s true.

My parents are Colombian-American, and while my dad still dreams of Colombian paradise, I always have to remind him how big of a "shithole" the country has always been, regardless of what he remembers growing up.

Colombia, like Venezuela, and just about all Latin American countries, is a “shithole" banana republic, and nothing more.

Evie knows how bad it is in Colombia, one of the most corrupt countries that are still controlled by criminal drug cartels or paramilitary groups, where police can be easily bribed, and where crime is rampant.

Commissioner Fried is a very nice lady and means well, who, unlike her spokeswoman Evie, usually takes the heat during pressers and does not block reporters and activists.

Maybe Fried needs to run her own press shop, especially if she wants to win over Latino voters. The same Latino voters who voted against the Democratic agenda and message that Evie was pushing during the 2020 presidential election.

Remember, Republican, Independent, and Democratic voters rebuked the Democratic Socialist message Evie and others were peddling last year.

Now, how far can Fried actually go when she and her own spokeswoman don’t seem to be on the same page when it comes to the narco-terror group FARC?

Fried hasn’t said if she supports Biden’s move to delist the group from the list of terror organizations, while Evie supported the decision.

Maybe Fried needs to ask Evie, ¿Qué es esa vaina?
