'Trump Ally' Gus Bilirakis Endorses Cory Mills for Congress

Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R), arguably one of the biggest supporters of former President Donald Trump and his agenda (votes in support of Trump 95.1% of the time), has come out and endorsed combat veteran Cory Mills in the Republican congressional primary race in Florida's 7th District.

In an early morning press release, the Mills campaign announced the endorsement, touting that Rep. Bilirakis's endorsement makes Mills "the consensus candidate" in the race.

"Our veterans are national treasures and we must support and protect them at all costs. Combat veteran Cory Mills, who bled on the battlefield in support of our great nation during multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, is dedicated to seeing that veterans get all the help they need and deserve. I support Cory’s dedication to our veterans, our country, our freedoms, and his America First candidacy for Congress," stated Rep. Bilirakis.

In response to Bilirakis's statement, Mills praised the lawmaker for being "a true conservative legislator" and a "champion for our veterans."

"I’m grateful for the support of Congressman Gus Bilirakis, a true conservative legislator, and champion of our veterans. Rep. Bilirakis understands the importance of effectual legislation and has been steadfast in his support for Floridians, all Americans. Thank you for your confidence and support," stated Mills.

Prior to this latest endorsement, Mills told The Floridian that after he received the support from House Freedom Caucus co-founder Rep. Jim Jordan, that he has received "the most endorsements" in the primary race.

The Bilirakis endorsement brings Mills congressional support count to 10 members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

U.S. Reps. Jim Jordan, Brian Mast, Greg Steube, Ronny Jackson, Brian Babin, MarkWayne Mullin, John Rutherford, Neal Dunn, and Jim Banks, have all lent their support for Mills, per the press release.

The winner of the Republican primary race will then face Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D) in the 2022 midterm general election.
