Senator Scott Warns of ‘Expensive’ Holiday Season

Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) is warning Americans to brace themselves for a disappointing Thanksgiving, Hannukah and Christmas. The reason being that the former Governor of Florida is arguing that President Joe Biden’s (D) economic policies will lead to a bad holiday season because of rising prices. Taking part in a Senate GOP press conference this week, Senator Scott shared his disapproval of the President’s handling of the economy, saying that this holiday will be the most “expensive” holiday in history.

Scott, the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, has often shared enthusiasm for the upcoming 2022 midterm election, most recently expressing that the GOP will win elections because of President Biden’s efforts in the White House. One point of contention for the GOP has been rising inflation, supply shortages and the overall direction of the economy.

As a result, Scott argued that the American people will feel it the most in the upcoming holiday season.

“You’ve got all these things going up in price. It’s Thanksgiving, it’s Hanukkah, and it’s Christmas,” said Scott, adding that “this will be the most expensive Thanksgiving in history. This will probably be the most expensive Christmas in history,” noting that “the typical family” will struggle.

They will struggle because “the first thing they have to do is say, ‘Gosh, what does gas cost? Gas is up significantly, 40%, 50%, so they’re going to say ‘Can I do this? Can I go see my mom? Can I get off from school? Can we all be together?’”

This week marks the Special Session called by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who’s been a vocal critic of the President on a number of topics, which includes the direction of the American economy. Last month, the Governor commented at Northwest Florida College that he believed the holiday season would be grim for Americans, saying “you see all of these problems with the shipping and not being able to get goods. We don’t even know if the kids will get toys for Christmas.”
