Although the Cuban protests have fizzled out since the Summer, many Cuban-Americans have not forgotten the United States' lack of action against the Communist regime, especially US Rep. Mario Diaz Balart (R-FL) who claims the Biden Administration might be helping the Cuban regime.
In a sit-down interview with The Floridian, Rep. Diaz Balart almost found it humorous when asked about President Biden (D) and his job dealing with the oppressive government in Cuba. "They're doing nothing positive," said Rep. Diaz-Balart. Including the simplest thing they could do which was for example providing an internet system so Cubans could communicate."
Diaz Balart even thinks it would be easy for the United States to pull this off, claiming it could be done "within 24 hours."
However, Balart is not just concerned about Biden's inaction, but in his words, "things they have done that might have helped the regime," hinting at possible talks the US government could possibly be having directly with the regime.
Without divulging any classified information, Diaz-Balart could only tell so much, leaving us where we left off so many months ago.
Diaz Balart alongside Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) has been the loudest voice of opposition to Cuba, and the biggest advocate for providing internet service to the island, insisting Communism is the problem. Democrats on the other hand have stuck to the narrative of an unfair embargo and lack of COVID-19 vaccines that have caused the recent turmoil in the Caribbean nation.
