Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R), on the defensive in his reelection campaign, is slamming Democrats across the country, calling them “far-Left lunatics” that are “failing us miserably.”
In his senatorial race, the South Florida Republican will be facing his challenger Florida Rep. Val Demings (D), who is quickly amounting support and finances as she ventures to unseat the 2016 hopeful. In a message to supporters, Rubio decried the work that Democrats have done in office, calling them “proponents of socialist policies” who are “entirely incompatible with America.”
Demings, a former Orlando police chief, has positioned herself as a threat to the incumbent senator, and Democrats are hopeful that she’ll unseat Rubio in the upcoming 2022 midterm election.
Speaking of her campaign, Dan Newman, a Democratic strategist in Florida, praised Demings, commenting that “there’s a real opening for Val to be the leader of the party,” and highlighting that “you can see her success as a fundraiser, but you also hear from the activists, electeds and small donors a desire to see and meet her in their communities.” “Obviously, there is a lot on her plate, but with political outreach, a little goes a long way,” he added, noting that “there’s universal excitement among Democrats for her candidacy.”
However, Rubio has warned that her election would only usher in more “socialist policies.”
“Proponents of socialist policies like Bernie Sanders and AOC insist that the Government knows best,” he expressed in a message to supporters, adding “that only the Government – not small businesses, not communities, and certainly not churches – can help those in need.”
“They think we need to tear good people down to make everyone equal,” he explained. “And in a way it does; everyone is equally powerless, equally hopeless, and equally controlled by the government.”
As a result, Rubio shared that “we don’t have to allow the far-Left lunatics the ability to run and control every aspect of our lives.”
Accusing Democrats of only wanting “control,” Rubio warned that socialism “will fail here, just as every socialist society has done in the past.”
