Democratic Rep. Stephanie Murphy, who is the figurehead of the January 6th House Select Committee on the Capitol Riot, appeared on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time” where she asserted that a floor vote to hold Steve Bannon in criminal contempt for ignoring the committee’s subpoena to present himself before Congress will occur this week.

“I believe that there will be a vote on Thursday, at least there will be a vote by the end of this week. The House will act on this and then refer it to the Department of Justice,” said Rep. Murphy. “I can't speak for the Department of Justice but I believe this Department of Justice shares our values that nobody is above the law and that they are there to evaluate the facts the circumstances legislation in the constitution and to act accordingly this is too important for them to sit on it.”

According to Rep. Murphy, Bannon is the only one of the 11 subpoenas who is not cooperating in some form but then grouped everyone together, stating that “They are trying to deter and delay and play games with the Select Committee. And we are not here to play games.”

Murphy says that Bannon “stands alone at this moment of defying the subpoena,” arguing that it appears he is holding out over potential presidential privilege the former President Donald Trump and his legal team say exists.

“We are going after the information that we need to layout this case and we will you every tool at our disposal to do so,” added Murphy.

Republicans contend that the Select Committee Murphy sits on is nothing more than another “political witchhunt” aimed at trying to embarrass former President Donald Trump and deflect away from the current and unpopular Progressive agenda Murphy and other House Democrats have been pushing.
