More and more Americans with a military history are joining the ranks of members of the U.S. Congress even though there is a nationwide effort by Progressives and anti-war proponents to demonize the U.S. military and the personnel that makes it run.
As of the 2020 presidential election, there are some 91 veterans in Congress, the lowest number of vets in Washington since World War II. It’s not surprising that most of the veterans in Congress are Republicans.
The Army leads the way with 44 serving veterans. The Navy follows with 17 veterans, and the Marines Corps and Air Force both have 15 veterans serving in Congress.
But even though the number of veterans in Congress is at an all-time low, the 2022 midterm elections could usher in at least a dozen more legislators.
Texas has 9 veterans in Congress with Florida nipping at its heels with 7 veterans.
Florida could even the score with Texas as several key congressional races around the state have veterans running in them.
Airforce Veteran Anna Paulina Luna and former Marine Mark Tito are Republicans running in Florida’s 13th District, and former Army Ranger Cory Mills and Army National Guard Captain Anthony Sabatini, both Republicans, are running in Florida’s 7th District.
Also, former Congressman and U.S. Navy SEAL Ryan Zinke is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Montana, again.
