Elvira Salazar Slams Pelosi's 'Outrageous Abuse of Power'

Share

Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R) could potentially face former Florida Rep. Donna Shalala (D) in a third bout for Florida 27th Congressional District. In between dodging criticism from President Donald Trump (R) and “pro-Trump” Republicans for past votes and directing criticism at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) for “outrageous abuse of power,” the Florida lawmaker has gained a significant amount of financial support as she’s recorded raising $642,000 in Quarter 3 as she leads her reelection campaign.

On Twitter, the Florida Republican has lashed out on Democrats over supporting “socialist” policies. In turn, she’s called for voters to not “fall for their lies.”

When it comes to the Reconciliation Bill’s proposal to give the IRS direct access to Americans’ bank accounts, the GOP member has shared her disapproval of the measure, calling it an “outrageous abuse of power.”

“Nancy Pelosi’s leading the charge to violate the financial privacy of Americans by monitoring their bank accounts as part of the Reconciliation Bill,” she shared, adding that she opposed “this outrageous abuse of power that turns citizens into subjects and exposes millions of Americans to data breach risk.”

She joins a number of Republicans that have vehemently opposed the measure, and this could be drawing support towards her campaign at a time when Democrats are vying to expand their influence in the upcoming 2022 midterm election.

Elvira Salazar has received a hefty amount of financial support from both individual and corporate donations ranging from across state lines and business sectors.

Her two political opponents that have filed to run against her include Ian Medina (D), who has recorded no money raised since announcing his candidacy and Angel Montalvo (D), who has raised $4,2000 since announcing his candidacy in July.

Shalala, who last served Florida's 27th Congressional District, shared that she was interested in potentially facing Elvira Salazar a third time for the seat. However, she also shared that she wanted to see the results of redistricting in the Sunshine State as a result of the most recent census.
