Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R) unloaded on the Biden Administration along with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I) on social media. Republican members of Congress have made scathing remarks against the modern Democratic Party, accusing it of pursuing a socialist platform for America. On Twitter, the freshman politician launched criticism at the Treasury Department and Bernie for “bringing socialism to America.”
According to President Biden’s controversial budget, which has received opposition from both Republicans and Democrats, “it could result in banks having to report transaction data for an account with at least $600 of inflows or outflows annually” as reported by the American Banker.
GOP members have taken issue with this, and it has only added to mounting criticism.
On Twitter, Elvira Salazar criticized the Treasury Department for “trying to gain access to our bank accounts of Americans to monitor transactions over $600, while our national debt piles up.” Instead, the Florida Republican argued that “we should focus on fixing the government’s spending problem instead of worrying about what Americans do with their money.”

Earlier this week, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) also directed criticism at the Biden Administration, calling the President’s infrastructure bill “Marxism” and adding that “if you compromise with socialists, you end up with socialism.”
This resulted in progressive backlash, but the tension has only risen as it appears that Elvira Salazar and Senator Sanders will be exchanging words of their own.
On Twitter, responding to a tweet from Senator Sanders on believing in an “entitlement society,” Elvira Salazar commented that “Bernie and his socialist colleagues in congress are working to expand government control, bringing socialism to America.” She added that “truth is most Americans don’t want socialism in our country & neither do the majority of senators” before asking Bernie to “stop this charade and get back to working for America!”
