“I think he’s doing exceptionally well,” said Veteran Republican strategist Roger Stone of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during a sitdown interview with The Floridian. The always colorful and animated Stone said that he believes Gov. DeSantis is “very able and very courageous in his decision making and he showed the backbone to fight over certain core values.”
But while the controversial Stone believes that DeSantis is the best option in the 2022 gubernatorial midterm election, he also points out that DeSantis has gotten a few things wrong from time to time. DeSantis took a lot of pushback from his Conservative Republican base of support earlier this year when he signed into law Big Tech legislation that should have included amendments to strengthen the measure. Conservative Activists like Laura Loomer, who is running for the U.S. Congress against Rep. Daniel Webster (R) have been outspoken critics of the law, saying that it didn't go far enough to punish Big Tech companies.
“Now does he always get it right,” questioned Stone. No. His Internet freedom bill could have had a couple of amendments to make it better, but what other governor has an Internet freedom bill moving through a republican legislature to protect our free speech rights? Only Ron DeSantis”
As Florida Democrats try to pin all of the woes Floridians are suffering in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic on DeSantis, Stone calls the governor’s leadership nothing less than “laudable and courageous” and takes on the state and national media for wanting to “belittle his position” regarding the pandemic.
“His leadership on COVID has been nothing short of I think laudable and courageous because he knows that he's sailing into the winds of a corporately controlled media who wanted belittle his position, who want to distort what he's fighting for, but he's the one with the science, not them they departed the scientific method in this COVID pandemic,” concluded Stone. Ron is standing up for the people and for the Florida economy like a champ.”
