South Dakota's Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) has easily been one of the GOP's national rising stars alongside Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL). But, her stock took a huge hit today as State Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-32) called the governor "stupid and clueless."
Noem, who has been gaining notoriety for conservative policy in her home state, has recently been found more than fallible by her own party. Now, rising star and US Congressional hopeful Rep.Sabatini called her out on Twitter for what he called a "stupid and clueless take.":
Sabatini then called for a primary challenge to Noem after she tweeted something the average American would have thought is a rather Conservative take.
Noem has been the victim of inner-party backlash recently, after criticizing fellow Conservative, writer Matt Walsh. The South Dakota Governor slammed Walsh for what she called "misogyny" something many Republicans would say strays away from the conservative narrative.
The governor has also refused to stop private companies from instituting mask mandates, which has also subjected her to heat from constituents.
For Sabatini, we could imagine that her recent tweets have only been authored in terms of damage control to reassure the GOP base of her governmental values.
Sabatini embodies the wing of the Republican party that has fully embraced Trump politics, avoiding political correctness whenever he can and "draining the swamp." Sabatini is running against US Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) for her 7th District seat in the 2022 midterms.
