Just days after Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) suggested that the 25th amendment “be considered” with President Joe Biden (D), Florida Rep. Michael Waltz (R) has “introduced a resolution condemning President Biden’s failure” regarding the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
In the resolution, the Florida Republican cites warnings that were provided by the Senate Intel Committee that the President allegedly did not consider. In turn, GOP members have vehemently criticized the President and his decision to move forward with a “United States troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021.”
Last week, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, slammed the Biden Administration, arguing that “when the Biden Administration announced their Afghanistan pullout plan, several of us on the Intel Committee told them their predictions of what would happen next were complete fantasy.” He then lamented on social media that “we are not witnessing how true our warnings to them were.”
His colleague, Senator Scott, former Governor of Florida, further criticized Biden by penning an Op-Ed for Fox News, calling Biden “unfit” for office while commenting on social media that “the crisis & chaos Biden has created in Afghanistan has needlessly endangered thousands of American lives.”
The criticism from GOP members has now culminated in Rep. Waltz introducing a resolution to condemn Biden over Afghanistan.
Specifically, the resolution “condemns President Biden’s failure to heed the advice of military and intelligence advisors about the speed and nature of the Taliban offensive, leading to a disorganized, chaotic, and abrupt evacuation of United States personnel and Afghan allies.”
The resolution comes at a time when the Taliban has notified the Biden Administration over an August 31st deadline to fully pull out of Afghanistan. If not, there will be “consequences” if the United States and its allies decide to extend their presence.
