The Taliban have taken control of the Afghan government, and both the President and Vice President of the country have fled. Subsequently, video footage showed Taliban members celebrating from inside the presidential palace in Kabul. With a number of people rushing to airports and their cars to flee the country, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) has taken to Twitter to criticize President Joe Biden (D) and his foreign policy.
Noting that the Biden Administration had been warned about rescinding troops from Afghanistan, Senator Rubio tweeted, “we are now witnessing how true our warnings to them were.”
Staff from the American Embassy have been evacuated as many others rush to flee the country.
Leading up to the Taliban takeover, a subject of contention has been whether or not President Biden was correct in removing troops from Afghanistan. According to his plan, all troops would be removed from Afghanistan by September 11th.

In turn, Senator Rubio took to social media to discuss the extent to which the Biden Administration was warned about the implications of removing American soldiers from Afghanistan.
“When the Biden Administration announced their Afghanistan pullout plan, several of us on the Intel Committee told them their predictions of what would happen next were complete fantasy,” said Rubio.
“We are now witnessing how true our warnings to them were,” Rubio added.
Condemnation from the GOP has been swift, and President Donald Trump (R) has even called for President Biden’s resignation.
“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVD, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” he said.
In short, President Trump scolded President Biden, saying that Biden “ran out of Afghanistan instead of following the plan our Administration left for him.”
