Republican Spalding Demands Wasserman Schultz Take Cognitive Test

Share

Republican congressional candidate Carla Spalding is suggesting that Rep. Wasserman Schultz (D) needs to take a "cognitive test" to see if "she is mentally fit for Congress.

Spalding, who kicked off the campaign the night before in Weston, Florida,  posted the remark on her campaign's Facebook page Sunday night in response to Rep. Wasserman's Sunday morning television appearance where she appeared to defend the Biden administration's exit strategy in Afghanistan.

"It is embarrassing to see how my opponent Debbie Wasserman Schultz continues to be an apologist for President Biden and his failed foreign policy. She refuses to acknowledge that her president has abandoned thousands of Americans and allies in Afghanistan. Debbie is also showing an unbelievable naiveness and lack of leadership when she says that Al Qaeda has been completely defeated and could never harm the U.S. again.
Her pre-9/11 ignorance is nothing less than dangerous, not to mention delusional. It's time that she takes a cognitive test to see if she is mentally fit for Congress?"

The Biden administration continues to struggle to put together a long-overdue exit plan to evacuate thousands of Americans and allies from the Taliban-controlled country of Afghanistan, a growing number of congressional Democrats have grown weary of President Biden and have been critical of his handling of the crisis, except for Florida Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

During the aforementioned Sunday appearance on Local 10’s “This Week in South Florida” hosted by Michael Putney and Glenna Milberg, Putney asked Rep. Wasserman Schultz if she believed Biden was “responsible for the bungled exit from Afghanistan.”

The seasoned politician pivoted away from answer the question directly and went on to say that it was ‘mission accomplished’ in regards to the initial “goal” was when the U.S. first engaged terrorists in Afghanistan.

“Let’s remember what our goal was. Terrorists attacked Americans on 9/11. Made sure that we neutered their ability to do that again. We have done that. We have achieved the goal of eliminating the ability of Al Qaeda to be the terrorist threat that they were, and to ever perpetrate an attack like that on the United States again,” asserted Wasserman Schultz

Putney almost interrupted the congresswoman and excused himself for pressing on, asking, “The way we got out, it is frankly humiliating, isn’t it?

Wasserman Schultz responded, saying that Biden’s decision to leave Afghanistan was prevent prolonging the war.

“I think what is the most troubling is that we spent many years building up the fighting forces and the ability for the Afghan military to be able to defend their own country. The choice that the president based was done, either continue the withdrawal because there was a ceasefire that would have ended on May 1st, or even commit more troops and face another decade of fighting,” answered Wasserman Schultz.

The Biden administration has ramped up their airlift effort, the Taliban could be seen wearing U.S. military uniforms and carrying and driving vehicles and small arms that the U.S. left behind as troops were pulled.
